Day 1: Reykjavik and the Golden Circle

Arrival in Reykjavik: Land at Keflavik International Airport and transfer to your accommodation in Reykjavik, Iceland's capital. Start your day with a hearty Icelandic breakfast at a local café, perhaps trying skyr (Icelandic yogurt) or kleinur (traditional twisted doughnuts). Join a guided tour or rent a car to explore the Golden Circle, a popular route featuring three iconic attractions:

  • Thingvellir National Park: Discover the historic site of Iceland's first parliament and witness the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
  • Geysir Geothermal Area: Marvel at the erupting geysers, including the famous Strokkur, which shoots boiling water high into the air.

  • Gullfoss Waterfall: Admire the powerful cascades of Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most breathtaking waterfalls.

Head back to Reykjavik and spend the evening exploring the city's vibrant culture, dining scene, and nightlife. Enjoy a dinner at one of Reykjavik's cozy restaurants, sampling Icelandic delicacies like Icelandic lamb or fresh seafood.

South Coast and Waterfalls

Depart early for a day trip along Iceland's scenic South Coast. Seljalandsfoss: Experience the unique opportunity to walk behind this majestic waterfall, feeling the mist on your face as you admire the surrounding scenery. Marvel at the powerful cascade of Skógafoss and climb the stairs for panoramic views of the area. Visit the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, known for its striking basalt columns and dramatic sea stacks. Explore the charming coastal village of Vík and enjoy lunch at a local café, savoring Icelandic seafood specialties. Return to Reykjavik: Head back to Reykjavik in the late afternoon. Consider relaxing in one of Reykjavik's geothermal pools, such as the Blue Lagoon or one of the city's public swimming pools.

Day 3: Reykjanes Peninsula and Blue Lagoon

Explore the otherworldly landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula, known for its geothermal areas, lava fields, and rugged coastline. Witness the steam vents and bubbling mud pools of Gunnuhver, an active geothermal area. Stand on the footbridge spanning the fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Visit Iceland's oldest lighthouse for panoramic views of the peninsula. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the iconic Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa known for its milky-blue waters, silica mud masks, and rejuvenating properties. Book in advance to secure your entry.  After your relaxing afternoon, return to Reykjavik for your final evening in Iceland. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a top restaurant in Reykjavik, celebrating the end of your Icelandic adventure with delicious cuisine and perhaps a taste of Icelandic schnapps or Brennivín.
